Published on January 1 2015

Science-Metrix is pleased to announce the appointment of Werner Meier to the position of Vice-President Evaluation Services. Officially commencing on January 5 after several months of valuable input as a consultant, Werner brings to the company 20 years of experience in business development, management consulting, and recognised expertise in evaluation and performance measurement. He has worked extensively with federal government departments and international agencies and organisations in the foreign affairs and international trade and development fields. His move to Science-Metrix will allow him to pursue his interest in science and technology and further explore the role of research and development in knowledge creation, innovation, domestic and global economic growth.

Werner has a master's degree in Education with a concentration on measurement and evaluation from the University of Ottawa, has been a Certified Management Consultant since 2009 and a Credentialed Evaluator since 2011. He is an advocate of the use of computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software for conducting evaluations to ensure that the findings and conclusions drawn from the data are demonstrably evidence-based. He has been a presenter at Annual Conferences of the Canadian Evaluation Society and is a sought-after speaker and workshop facilitator on implementing results-based management and performance measurement strategies in public sector organisations in Canada and internationally.

As the VP Evaluation Services, Werner will divide his time between Ottawa, Brussels and the Science-Metrix Headquarters Office in Montreal. He has been mandated to expand the company’s current evaluation services to federal government clients, the European Commission and philanthropic foundations. He will establish a Science-Metrix Ottawa Office that will allow him to maintain close relations with our federal government clients and to respond personally and rapidly to project-related enquiries. Werner is keen to hear from early, mid-career and senior evaluators in the Ottawa area, for both permanent positions and project-based consultancies.
