Science-Metrix invited speakers at SSHRC

Two Science-Metrix teams enjoyed the opportunity to participate in discussions about their work as part of the Impact Exchange initiative organized by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The Science-Metrix teams, invited by the SSHRC’s Corporate Performance and Evaluation Unit, presented and discussed the results of several studies relating to the impacts of social sciences and humanities research with SSHRC program staff, evaluation staff and management representatives.

On March 3, 2010, Science-Metrix President and CEO Eric Archambault highlighted the key findings stemming from a series of studies in “The Outputs and Impacts of SSH Research —Evidence from Bibliometrics Research and Two Large-Scale Web Surveys.”

The president of the SSHRC, referred the findings of this presentation in a opinion letter published in the April issue of University Affairs: We need literary theorists - Let's confront misperceptions about our graduates.

On March 16, 2010, Frédéric Bertrand, Vice-President Evaluation, and Michelle Picard-Aitken, Senior Research Analyst, participated in stimulating dialogue on the “Conceptualization of Impacts of Research/Creation in the Fine Arts.”
