Grégoire Côté, project director, is in charge of producing science and technology statistics and developing scientometric and technometric indicators at Science-Metrix. For nearly three years, he worked as a research officer at the Institut National de Recherche Scientifique – Urbanisation, Culture et Société (INRS-UCS), specializing in the production of bibliometric and technometric data. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a certificate in political science from Université Laval (UL). He has participated in several research projects in environmental and healthcare biology at Université Laval, the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec (CHUQ), Simon Fraser University (SFU), University of British Columbia (UBC) and the Ministry of Forests and Range of British Columbia. His most recent measurement projects have focused on bioproducts and bioprocesses, biotechnologies, biophotonics, genomics, mental health in the workplace, stem cell research and pharmacogenomics.

Over the years, Grégoire has applied his expertise to the development of unique tools for the bibliometric and scientometric definition and delimitation of non-traditional, emergent scientific domains. This gives Science-Metrix the capacity to produce robust statistics in scientific and technological domains as yet unclassified by the usual systems, such as biophotonics, pharmacogenomics and mental health in the workplace. Grégoire has considerable experience in the measurement of finer elements such as enabling technological platforms (nanotechnologies, genomics/proteomics, bioinformatics), fields of application (biorestoration, cancer, cardiovascular diseases) and levels of scientific maturity (pure or applied research, clinical tests I, II, III, patents). These measurement methods help build a thorough understanding of the structure of any given field of scientific and technological endeavour.
