Nicole Bégin-Heick, Ph.D.

Dr. Bégin-Heick has a scientific background in Biochemistry (Ph.D. McGill University , M.Sc. Cornell University, B.Sc. Laval University, Post-Doctoral Fellow Duke University and University of Toronto). She was appointed Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry by the University of Ottawa in 1996 after more than 25 years of teaching and research. Dr. Bégin-Heick also has a research governance background. After occupying the positions of Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (Medicine and other Health Sciences) and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Ottawa , she became Executive Director of the Ontario Council on Graduate Studies and the Ontario Council on University Research at the Council of Ontario Universities. She served as a member of Council and as member or chair several Committees for the Medical Research Council and NSERC in addition to being a member of many scientific review Committees at the national and provincial (Quebec and Ontario) level. Since becoming an independent consultant in 1999, she has contributed to or directed program planning and evaluation studies for NSERC, SSHRC, CFI and the Canada Research Chairs Program , among others.
Dr. Bégin-Heick collaborates with Science-Metrix in program planning and evaluation projects for the account of federal organizations and funding councils.
