BIBLIOMETRIC PROJECT ON FOREST GENOMICS

The Canadian Forest Service (CFS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) mandated Science-Metrix to perform an analysis of forest genomics with the aim to study the evolution of the field at the Canadian and international levels and to benchmark the output of Canada against that of other leading countries in this field. Science-Metrix is uniquely positioned to achieve this study since the firm has experience in the elaboration of bibliometric definitions allowing to circumscribe multidisciplinary fields such as forest genomics which is lying at the intersection of silviculture, entomology, microbiology and genomics. Within the scope of this project, Science-Metrix will provide a comprehensive picture of the field with precise and accurate statistics on the scientific output of countries.

The findings of the study will be presented at the Canadian Forest Genomics Symposium organized by CSF (NRCan) and Genome Canada. This Symposium will be held in the Victoria Room of the Delta Hotel and Suites in Ottawa, Ontario, September 2-3, 2004.
