Science-Metrix holds licenses and internally hosts several databases that are essential for conducting bibliometric analyses. Our experts have standardized and conditioned these databases to allow for the production of high-quality and robust bibliometric indicators. Our analysts then perform data mining and compute statistics by means of complex queries using Structured Query Language (SQL).
Science-Metrix is the sole evaluation firm that specializes in bibliometrics at the world level and that detains licenses from Thomson (Web of Science), Elsevier (Scopus), and Questel (PlusPat). These licenses allow Science-Metrix to hold a version of these companies' databases on its own servers and to produce bibliometric statistics and analyses based on these products. Science-Metrix also hosts a copy of Medline on its servers and has used this database regularly since 2002 to produce statistics on the health sciences.
